Grunge not Grime

pics-pinterest

For me, grunge is one of those things that will never go out of fashion.  As someone who can't leave the house without snagging my top on excessive jewellery or stomping through a muddy puddle the kind of style that looks better when, shall we say, 'undone' is always going to be a favourite.  I'm massively partial to a plaid shirt (the bigger the better), a sprinkle of studding and shredded denim...all of which formulate the typically nineties look epitomised in the pictures above.  And if it's good enough for Kate and MKA, it's more than good enough for me.

One thing I can't stand...actual dirt.  It's one thing to look a little rough around the edges, but you've taken it a step too far when there's grime under your finger nails and you actually do smell like teen spirit.  Keep the clothes fresh and the hair fresher...there's always someone that takes it a step too far.

H&M Trend A/W12

H&M Trend A/W12 Preview

The line between H&M Trend and big sister Cos seems to blur more with every passing season.  The clothes shown above are insane, they look way more designer than high-street and combined with the fact that they're probably all going to cost less than £50?  Amazing.  Particularly loving the jacket top right, I can see myself shrugging that on multiple times next season, and it looks set to replace that green one every blogger and her aunt owns this year.  I cannot wait until this stuff hits the shops, it's just a shame the closest H&M to me that actually sells Trend is a good hour and a half way...

You are my Sunshine...

pics - pinterest/goldenoldies

I don't know where it came from but I'm not complaining, today we finally saw some sunshine!  Suddenly my thoughts switched from chunky knits and clumpy boots to pastel waves of chiffon, sawn-off denim and leather sandals.  The long-forgotten bikini diet of yester-month is back with a vengeance (she says, having just consumed a dark chocolate KitKat with her cup of tea...) and whilst I in no way advocate the use of 'thinspo' or anything of the sort, it's definitely that time of year when the fridge gets covered with H&M bikini ads.  Fact is, it's impossible not be motivated by images like the above, and if the weather keeps up like this I'm probably going to have to get the legs out at some point soon.  Not a happy thought after weeks of rainy evenings full of, well, food.

TRF May

Zara TRF Lookbook, May 2012

Shredded denim, burnt out white jersey and trophy jackets...yeah they did good again.

Looking forward to the Women's version being launched next week, although bank manager definitely says NO to any spending, in Zara or otherwise, for the foreseeable future.  So naturally, I want to spend even more.  Particularly, when it's possible to make it look this good...

God bless you Zara, and your reasonably priced goodness (that I still can't afford.)

One Oh One

Celebrating my ONE HUNDRED AND FIRST POST (yeah I missed the hundredth completely) with a selection of aesthetic pleasantries, a scary movie and a extremely extravagant (and rather sickly) ice cream sundae with The Boy.  It's what Friday nights were made for.

Day off tomorrow, finally.  I plan on spending it mostly in bed, shaking off the remains of this incessant fever, watching 90210 re-runs and definitely not eating ice cream.  In fact, after that light binge, I feel I may not need to eat anything for a long time.
